Kiln Drying
Kiln Drying is a process which removes the moisture content from Sawn timber through the use of heat and air flow in a controlled environment.
Here at ECC we have 10 Drying Kins. We dry a full range of timber for the Construction industry ranging from 2.4 - 4.8 meters. We also dry Block and Boards for making pallets. This would be down to atleast 18% moisture. Our kilns are certified to Heat Treated Timber ISPM scheme.
The benifits of Kiln Drying timber is to remove any fungi and moulds from timber as they cannot survive on dry timber. It also gives the timber a better dimensional stability and there is a less risk of distortion.
